As of March 2022, Vietnam had 1,539 overseas investment projects with a total capital of nearly 21.43 billion USD, according to the Foreign Investment Agency of the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

In the first quarter of 2022, Vietnam’s overseas investment stocks reached 211.45 million USD, accounting for 37 percent of the total in the same period of the previous year, the Foreign Investment Agency of the Ministry of Planning and Investment announced.

Almost twenty-four projects obtained new investment registration certificates, with a total amount of more than 180.2 million USD (28.5%); three projects were adjusted with a total additional investment capital of 31.23 million USD or 7.2% of the total in the same period of 2021.

According to the Foreign Investment Agency, Vines Energy Solutions JSC’s projects in the United States and Canada are the main reason for the sharp increase in Vietnamese overseas investment.

Since January 2022, Vietnamese enterprises have invested abroad in eight sectors, led by the manufacturing industry with five new projects totaling 96.75 million USD, and the mining industry with a project of 33.54 million USD. The next largest sectors were banking and finance, wholesale and retail trade, and information communication.

In total, twelve countries and territories have received investments from Vietnam in the first quarter. Laos leads with one new investment project and two capital adjustment projects, with a total amount of USD 64.33 million, ahead of the US with USD 34.54 million. Next are Canada, Singapore, Indonesia…
