The movie Drishyam 2 is going from strength to strength. The movie is making a killing and now it has another major record to its name. The film has far surpassed the lifetime collections of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Marvel’s Hollywood franchise is one of the oldest in India and has a massive reach and fan base. Avengers is very popular today, but before that, there were only series like Spider-Man and Jurassic Park. Yet, for Drishyam 2 to surpass this great movie is nothing short of wonderful.
Of course, it’s another Hollywood blockbuster, Avatar: The Way of home, that is come into its back right now and reaping massive rewards. However, it’s not as if Ajay Devgn’s film has been crushed without any respite. On the contrary, it is doing better than expected, with $2.02 million more on Saturday. Even if the box office had been 50 million lower, it would have been good, so this is clearly fantastic.
This means that the Abhishek Pathak-directed film has collected 218.79 million euros in 30 days already and has far surpassed the figures of Spider-Man: No Way Home [212 million euros]. In doing so, the film has shattered another myth that for a film to be a blockbuster in theaters, it has to be one of those extravagant blockbuster films. If the story is good, the film will do great business and if it’s a VFX affair, the sky’s the limit. Spider-Man: No Way Home did it by playing to its strengths, and now Drishyam 2 has played to its strengths.
