Actress Ruby Rose has joined the cast of Dirty Angels, a thriller in Afghanistan, as the United States prepares to leave the country. The Hollywood Reporter claims she will co-star with Eva Green in the upcoming James Bond film Casino Royale. To rescue a group of kidnapped children stuck between ISIS and the forces of the Taliban during the chaotic 2021 withdrawal, the film will follow a troop of female soldiers who disguise themselves as medics. Although the novel took place when the United States pulled out of the war-torn country, everything that happens in it is made up. Martin Campbell, a seasoned action director, will take the helm.
The world was introduced to Rose, a former model-turned-actor, when she appeared in an episode of Orange is the New Black on Netflix’s third season. Since then, she’s had a successful career in action films, including The Meg and John Wick: Chapter Two. She also played the title role in a CW superhero show called Batwoman, but she quit after the first season due to a disagreement with the show’s creators over concerns for her safety on set. She was just seen in the Esports drama 1UP, and she’ll be in the next Taurus, which stars Machine Gun Kelly.
Campbell has directed several action-packed films, including two James Bond movies (Goldeneye and Casino Royale), The Mask of Zorro and its sequel, The Legend of Zorro, and the DC superhero feature Green Lantern. This year’s Memory, starring Liam Neeson as a contract killer, was his most recent film as a director. Green’s breakthrough came with Campbell’s Casino Royale after she had already made a name for herself in the art house with a starring role in Bernardo Bertolucci’s erotic drama The Dreamers; since then, she has starred in 300: Rise of an Empire, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and the Showtime horror series Penny Dreadful. She co-starred with Mark Strong in last year’s psychological thriller Nocebo, and she’ll soon be seen as the cunning Milady in a new film series based on The Three Musketeers.
Alissa Silverman has been tapped to pen the screenplay for Dirty Angels. Producers on the project include Moshe Diamant of Signature Pictures, Rob Van Norden of Millennium Media, and Yariv Lerner of Rogue Pictures. Avi Lerner, Boaz Davidson, Trevor Short, Jonathan Yunger, and Jeffrey Greenstein, all from Millennium Media, will serve as executive producers.
The production of Dirty Angels will begin this December in Morocco and at Millennium Media’s Greek studios.
