As people try to figure out who the new killer is, a new Scream 6 video hints that one of the movie’s returning characters may be the new Ghostface. Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Hayden Panettiere, and Courteney Cox will all be back in the next installment of the popular horror series as people who survived previous Ghostface killings and are trying to move on with their lives in New York City.
However, a new string of killings by someone wearing the mask will stop them in their tracks. Scream 6 will come out in early March. It will be directed again by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, almost a year after Scream 5 was a critical and commercial success.

The official Twitter account for the Scream series has released a new Scream 6 video with just over a month to go until the movie comes out.

In the short video, the returning characters and Josh Segarra, new to the franchise, stand on an empty stage wearing scary black gloves and holding the famous hunting knife that was often used in the Ghostface murders. With the caption “Keep your eyes open and your blades clean,” the Scream 6 video suggests that one or more of the characters who are back could be the new Ghostface.

Explaining every new Ghostface theory
As is customary, people are already talking about who might be the new face or faces behind the Ghostface mask in Scream 6. One of the more interesting ideas is that Ortega’s character Tara, who was hurt by the attacks and deaths of her friends in 2022’s Scream, has become the latest killer after having a psychotic break. This is a natural progression for her, given everything she went through in the first movie. Also, because of her macabre but still heroic role in Netflix’s hit series Wednesday, some people want to see the young actor play a full-on lousy guy in the upcoming sequel.

Barrera’s character, Sam Carpenter, has also been talked about as a possible new Ghostface in Scream 6. Her familiarity with Billy Loomis is the main reason she turns evil in the upcoming sequel. The Scream 6 trailer gave a lot of hints that this was the case, like how she tilted her head in a tense scene, just like every other Ghostface we’ve seen. But some theories say that Panettiere’s character Kirby could use her new job as an FBI agent to hide the fact that she is one of Scream 6’s Ghostface.

There are a lot of theories about the returning characters, but the new faces in Scream 6 have also raised questions. As the new Ghostface, Gabe, played by Tony Revolori, has been talked about the most. He would continue the series’ trend of turning comedic actors into killers, and his brief appearance in the Scream 6 trailer showed that he loves movies, which is one of Ghostface’s most recognizable traits. When Scream 6 comes out in theaters on March 10, only time will tell who the new killer or killers might be
