All the lovers of the series "Friends" are in mourning. The death of James Michael Tyler will leave a great void in Central Perk. And the cast members, who filmed with him for a decade, have not forgotten to say goodbye to Gunther, the one who is often referred to as the 7th Friends: "You were extremely grateful and humble every day on set. I feel that same gratitude for having known you. Rest in peace James.", commented Courteney Cox (Monica) on Instagram.

In 2021, he made a virtual appearance at the time of the special broadcast Friends: The Reunion.
James Michael Tyler also appeared in the series Scrubs (by Bill Lawrence) as a psychologist and in the series Episodes (with Matt LeBlanc).
He was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in September 20182. He died on October 24, 2021
