With the NBA season now officially over one of the main topics that have been discussed is who is the best player in the NBA today but we’ll give you our top 10.

10. Luka Doncic

Dallas Mavericks

wikipedia
Although young the Slovenian has proven himself to be one of the best players in the league his ability to score from all around the floor to penetrate to the basket with no difficulty is already something that could make him a top-five player, but his passing ability is unmatchable compared to the other players his size. Of course, the reason we have him at number 10 is because of his youth but also his lack of defensive abilities hurt his team against the Clippers.

9. Anthony Davis

Los Angeles Lakers

wikipedia
The Chicago native has almost no flaws to this game which is why he’s in the top 10. Last year many would have had him in the top five but like I said almost no flaws and his biggest flaw is injuries which is why he’s so low on this year’s list. If we were to go based on talent alone, he would easily be top five but some things that must be taken into account is his health and whether he can stay healthy next season.

8.Joel Embiid

Philadelphia 76ers

Although ending second in MVP voting this year the Cameroonian as usual had a difficult time staying healthy which letter is second place in finishing the MVP race. There is no denying his offensive and defensive capabilities being one of the most unstoppable big men in the league today and not only having that in his arsenal his footwork reminds us of a certain Hakeem and something big man usually can’t do shoot threes which is something Embiid can still improve on but as a center, it’s already very impressive. The reason we don’t have him higher on this list is his tendency to get injured one day he can be the MVP and the next day he’ll be on the bench with this suit on. He is an unpredictable player that if he wants to be considered the best in the league, he needs to be more consistent.

7. Kawhi Leonard

Los Angeles Clippers

In previous years many would have said Kawhi was the best player in the NBA but this year he once again almost proved it in the playoffs but sadly got injured which will affect his next season and we do not know for how long. Kawhi is still the most all-around best perimeter defender and a great offensive player, but his recent injury puts into question whether his ability to be the best player in the world again is achievable.

6. James Harden

Brooklyn Nets

The MVP and the scoring champ are still some of the best players in the league but next year I think you will be outshined by a certain man who will come up on this list. James is so talented on all areas of the floor except of course for defending but his offensive capabilities are immense and sometimes even unguardable. Next year I do not feel that he will be a top-five player because he will be outshined but the second thing and I believe the most crucial thing will be the rule change of searching for fouls which is something James Harden loves to do now, of course, he is still very capable to get points from anywhere on the court, but I feel like this will hurt him a little.

5. Nikola Jokic

Denver Nuggets

wikipedia
The Serbian is one of the most talented big men we have seen to this day. His offensive capabilities of passing the ball, shooting, and post moves are some of the many big men in the league today. One of the most obvious flaws in this game it’s his defending. We saw this year especially in the playoffs how he was being bullied by a man named DeAndre Ayton and although it was just one series it shows his clear flaws and what he needs to fix in the offseason to win the MVP maybe once again.

4. LeBron James

Los Angeles Lakers

wikipedia
Although being 36 and nearing the end of his career, LeBron James is still a top-five player. Whether he is the best it’s difficult to defend. Although many people have been proven wrong in the past, I believe that this will be a reasonable season for LeBron James. He will still be one of the best players in the league and possibly win another championship, but I don’t think he will ever be at one hundred percent as he said himself, and to be number one you must be at one hundred percent whether you’re LeBron James or not.

3. Kevin Durant

Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets player is arguably the best player in the league today not only is he arguably the best offensive player of all time but defensively he has proven that he is one of the best perimeter defenders in his position. In seasons prior we would have had him at number one but to prove us wrong he needs to show that he is better and can accomplish more than the next players I will name. In my books, he will always be one or two but next year he must show that he is number one and two.

2. Stephen Curry

Golden State Warriors

wikipedia
What Stephen Curry has been able to do this season it’s something we have never seen from a player since a certain man called LeBron James. Not only did he lead the league in scoring, but he led the previously worst team in the league in 2020 to the eighth seed in 2021. Now of course he did lose in the play-in, but it does not change the fact that he led an average team to playoff contention and it seriously scares me on what you can do with a healthy Klay Thompson next season.

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks

wikipedia
The Greek native has proven himself to be the best player in the league in my books with this footwork end being one of the most unguardable players in the post he is undeniably the best player in the league. His effort on defense was shown during the finals second going for 5 blocks in Game 6, he showed that not only can they be an unguardable weapon on the offensive side, but the defensive player of the year proved that he is no fluke on the defensive end. Last year many people might have had him at three or four because of his lack of performances in the playoffs but this year he has totally proved but he is not just a regular-season player winning the championship and the finals MVP the Batman of his team and the best player in the NBA.
