A new poster for Hocus Pocus 2 shows the Sanderson sisters flying. The billboard, released on social media, features Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy in their original roles as the three witches and promises a “wickedly triumphant comeback.”

After being resurrected from the 17th century by someone lighting the Black Flame Candle in Hocus Pocus (1993), the sisters are returned. In addition, they seek retribution. All of Salem is in danger, and only three high school kids can stop the witches in time before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.

In Hocus Pocus 2, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy play the Sanderson sisters again; Winifred “Winnie,” Sarah, and Mary are three witches accidentally brought back to life on Halloween night in Salem, Massachusetts by a virgin adolescent male.

Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl), Lilia Buckingham (Dirt), Belisa Escobedo (American Horror Stories), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Tony Hale (Veep), Sam Richardson (The Tomorrow War, Good Boys), Juju Brener (Vanquish), Froy Gutierrez (Teen Wolf), Taylor Paige Henderson, and Nina Kitchen all reprise their roles from the first film.

The Producers of Hocus Pocus 2 Have Already Begun Planning for a Third Film in the Series

While it took a long time for Hocus Pocus 2 to be made, director Anne Fletcher said the film will allow room for a third sequel. She said there’s a lot of space for a sequel, and that’s why she wrote it that way. Now, it’s entirely up to them to carry it out. I can’t say anything other than yes, it is left open. What’s the likelihood that they’ll follow through? To tell you the truth, I have no idea because they haven’t discussed it.

Both the director and Bette Midler, who will feature in the film, are excited for her to take the lead role in the franchise’s next instalment. Midler says that she always envied actors who got to play their favourite characters over again. After 30 years of advocating for the concept, she’s delighted they finally managed to put it into action. To have a series of films starring a character she enjoys playing is a dream come true for her.
