New York State experiences exceptional snowstorms
A White House spokesman said Monday, Nov. 21, that U.S. President Joe Biden has approved an emergency declaration for Northeastern New York after historic snowfall.
It appears that Biden had also ordered federal assistance to supplement state and local response efforts to deal with the aftermath of a severe winter storm and snowstorm.
In addition, the federal government has appointed a lead to coordinate national recovery operations in areas affected by the snowstorm.
“We faced a record snowstorm this weekend,” New York State Governor Kathy Hochul tweeted Monday, Nov. 21.
The snowstorm set a state record for the most snowfall in 24 hours, with parts of Erie County receiving more than 180 centimeters.
In Orchard Park, a village in Erie County, 203 centimeters of snow fell between Thursday and Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
