China-US tensions don’t stop progress

The aeronautical world is moving very fast and ideas are coming out at high speed. One of them is revolutionary, a new hybrid space transport plane.

The Chinese have recently announced the construction of a unique structure: half rocket and half airplane, equipped with thrusters adapted to high-speed travel. The goal is to create an innovative aircraft that combines the advantages of propulsion with the convenience of air travel.

The new spacewalker paves the way and aims to cut flight times between Beijing and New York by half (if not more). Indeed, the entire trip could take just one hour, without affecting the flying experience. The company’s plan is to test the plane on city-to-city transport, then use it in future space tourism.

On the website of the Chinese company, the Chinese aerospatial, it is possible to have a glimpse of what will happen at the beginning of the journey. At liftoff, the aircraft will detach from the wing, while the boosters will return directly to the launch site.

The Chinese are planning a series of test launches early next year, followed by a manned flight in 2025.

The success of Virgin Galactic’s VSS Unity spacecraft, which successfully completed a manned suborbital flight last year with founder Richard Branson, is a good example of this. In a very similar way, SpaceX introduced a hybrid aircraft design in 2017 to use its Starship rockets as a city-to-city passenger plane, although nothing ever materialized.
