Vietnam commits to Hanoi turning off the lights on March 25 for one hour

 

In solidarity with the Earth Hour 2023 campaign, Hanoi will be plunged into darkness on Saturday, March 25 from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.

In addition, Hanoi will organize a series of activities such as raising public awareness on energy saving and efficiency and the Earth Hour campaign, designing and hanging banners, billboards and posters in the streets…, on this event.

Earth Hour is an initiative, started in 2007 by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), helps to raise public awareness of the fight against climate change, energy conservation, development of clean and renewable energy for a green Earth. To date, more than 185 countries have joined the movement.

During the Earth Hour campaign, people are encouraged to make a simple but significant gesture by turning off lights and other unnecessary appliances in their homes and workplaces.

Vietnam has joined 63 cities and provinces across the country to participate in this initiative. Last year, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 26, the country saved 309,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to 576.1 million VND (24,200 USD).
