According to the teaser published in December, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 will continue the pattern of using a wide variety of animation styles and frame rates that impressed moviegoers in the first film.
Producer and co-writer Christopher Miller recently spoke with Empire to discuss the two alternate dimensions teased in the film’s trailer. Miller is careful not to reveal too much about the impending sequel’s plot, but he does say that quite different things inspire the visual styles of the two new universes.

The two in the preview were Nueva York from Spider-Man 2099’s universe and Earth-50101, which we’re calling ‘Mumbattan’ (inspired by an Indian comic-book style). That’s based on depictions of the future drawn in the style of Syd Mead. Gwen also has her universe, Earth-65. Even that was done in a watercolor wash, much like the covers of her comic books!

In addition to Miller reprising his role as producer from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson. will be directing the sequel.Several voice actors from the first film are also coming back for the sequel, including Moore, Steinfeld, Jake Johnson (as Peter B. Parker), Bryan Tyree Henry (as Jefferson Davis), and Oscar Isaac (as Miguel O’Hara). In addition to Issa Rae’s casting as Jessica Drew, it was also revealed that Daniel Kaluuya would lend his voice to Spider-Punk in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
The next sequel will see Miles Morales pair up with Gwen Stacy and a new squad of Spider-People to take down the formidable villain known as The Spot. However, the movie’s particular narrative remains a secret for the time being. The Spot, a villain who first appeared in Marvel Comics, has been portrayed as an adversary of both Spider-Man and Daredevil in the past. He can open interdimensional portals, which is perfect for the franchise’s frequent visits to alternate dimensions. A first glance at The Spot has been given thanks to freshly released Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse merchandising, with the box copy indicating that the villain may still be developing his powers.
Audiences and pundits praised Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse upon its 2018 release; thus great hopes are held for the sequel. According to Miller’s description of the trailer’s two new realms, the creative team behind Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is going to create unique, visually spectacular worlds for Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen to explore.
