The expected duel between Bruce Willis and John Travolta in Paradise City

Almost thirty years after “Pulp Fiction,” Bruce Willis and John Travolta meet again for the action movie “Paradise City”. A feature film by the director of “The Mask,” in which the two actors are again enemies.

Last spring, Bruce Willis’s relatives announced the retirement of the actor of Sixth Sense, Die Hard and The Fifth Element. The 67-year-old actor suffers from aphasia, a pathology caused by brain damage. This language disorder can be characterized in different ways, from difficulty finding words to total language loss. Recently, the star’s health worried his collaborators in the shooting of his feature films, primarily intended for the video market. Several incidents almost turned into a drama.

If Bruce Willis has chosen to leave the film sets, his fans will still be able to discover him in several films already finalized or in post-production, among which Paradise City. Directed by Chuck Russell, director of The Mask, The Eraser and The Scorpion King, this feature film marks his reunion with John Travolta. The latter had paid tribute to his partner on Instagram last March, sharing a souvenir photo and writing:

Bruce and I became good friends when we shared two of our biggest hits, Pulp Fiction and Hello Mom; This is Baby. Years later, he once told me, “John, I want you to know that when something good happens to you, it’s like it happened to me too.” That is what a generous soul he is. I love you, Bruce.

This friendship becomes a rivalry again, 28 years after their first confrontation in Pulp Fiction. If they crossed paths only twice in Quentin Tarantino’s masterpiece, their conflicts went very badly. This should still be the case in Paradise City, given the trailer. In the film, Bruce Willis plays Ian Swan, a bounty hunter who was presumed killed in a shootout while on assignment in Hawaii.

Supported by his father’s former partner, played by Stephen Dorff and a local detective (Praya Lundberg), his son Ryan (Blake Jenner) investigates his death. They meet a local godfather, played by John Travolta, whom Ian had been tracking for many years. They then flee to the island of Paradise City, where they find an unexpected ally. A classic scenario for visibly lazy action scenes, in line with the recent projects of its two leads.

In the United States, Paradise City will be released on November 11, 2022, in theaters and on video on demand
