The conquest of space has allowed many technological advances that are now used in everyday life. Among these inventions, we can mention :

 

1/ Anti-scratch glasses: 

Developed by NASA to avoid damage to the visors of astronauts' helmets



2/ The ear thermometer: 

NASA has developed infrared technology to measure the temperature of stars



3/ Invisible dental appliances: 

Made from transparent polycrystalline alumina (TPA) originally designed to protect the antennas of heat-guided missiles.



4/ Tap Water Filter: 

Developed by NASA to provide astronauts with good quality water during space travel



5/ Satellite navigation: 

Developed by NASA to allow spacecraft to communicate with the ground


 
 
6/ Shape memory products: 

Developed by NASA with silicone-polyurethane plastic for spacecraft seats to reduce impact on landing



7/ Smoke detectors: 

Developed by NASA to prevent any leak of toxic gases or the start of a fire with several levels of sensitivity to avoid a false alarm



Other everyday objects are the result of research done for the conquest of space, such as the high temperature coating of cooking pans, freeze-dried food, the insulin pump, initially used to search for traces of life on Mars, the airbag used for the first time in 1966 for the landing of Soviet probes.
