Nickelodeon at San Diego Comic-Con

The San Diego Comic-Con is a must-attend for fans of all things pop culture. While there have been some major announcements so far at this year’s convention, Nickelodeon’s confirmation that Aang and his friends from the original series will return to the first film from Avatar Studios may take the cake. If this is true, it will be as seismic as Toph’s earth-bending abilities. No information about the original cast members will be up to has been released.

One of Paramount’s Avatar Studios’ upcoming Avatar The Last Airbender films will centre on the original cast members from the show’s first season, Nickelodeon confirmed at the San Diego Comic-Con. First official confirmation that the characters who started it all will finally return to the world of animation on the big screen with Nickelodeon confirming so via their official Twitter account:

In the new video, Varney said she won’t be able to join the San Diego Comic-Con this year and reminded us that there is some exclusive Avatar Studios news to share. The rumours have been flying, the rampant speculation and the excitement is palpable. However, it was time to clear up some misconceptions. Avatar Aang and his pals will be the focus of Avatar Studios’ first feature-length film.

It’s the first of three Nickelodeon movies that will take us back to the world of bending, and Lauren Montgomery, who previously worked on the original series, will return as director for this one. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if one of the additional two films focused on the Legend of Korra’s heroes to wrap up any loose ends from the sequel series.
