France with Ferdinand De Lesseps succeeded in enriching Egypt

 

France and Ferdinand de Lesseps built the Suez Canal in Egypt, and it has recorded incredible revenues, more than eight billion USD in 2022, revenues from the passage and transit of 23,851 ships, said Wednesday, January 25 in a report by the Suez Canal Authority.

This is a relentless flow of ships and the number of ships that have passed through this waterway has increased by 8% in seven years, following the completion of a canal development project in 2015, with 135,000 ships have passed through the canal during the period 2016-2022, compared to 125,000 ships during the period 2008-2014.

The profits of the Suez Canal and the number of ships that have used it are both on the rise in recent years, the pandemic of COVID-19 and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, have not stopped the success of this French creation.

Ferdinand de Lesseps inaugurated the Suez Canal, which connects the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, in 1869, and plays a central role in the maritime circulation of international trade. Nearly 12% of world trade passes through the canal.
