The superstar actor Dwayne Johnson has joined the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). He plays the role of Black Adam in the eponymous film by Jaume Collet-Serra, expected on October 19 in our dark rooms. But the actor has the continuation in the ideas and would like to face Superman on screen.
Dwayne Johnson dreamed of playing a superhero on screen. And to choose between Marvel and DC, the actor had no hesitation and joined the DCEU with closed eyes. After Shazam!, Warner has put in construction Black Adam. This character, who has the same powers as Shazam, is his direct nemesis in the comics. Presenting an ambiguous character, a violent anti-hero, or even a super-villain, Black Adam will be the first movie centered on a villain of the DCEU (if we put aside the two Suicide Squad movies).
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the film will feature the introduction of new famous characters in the DCEU. In addition to Black Adam, the movie will introduce Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Dr. Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Atom (Noah Centineo) or Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), heroes well known to comic book readers. But according to a recent intervention of Dwayne Johnson, a certain Superman could soon show his nose.
During the press conference, Dwayne Johnson was interviewed by CinemaBlend. The media asked him if a Superman vs Black Adam confrontation was still on the cards. The actor didn’t beat around the bush and reiterated that it was totally his intention. Without really specifying if Superman will be on Black Adam, the actor suggests that the Man of Steel could soon make his return in the DCEU to face him in single combat:
We’re in a new era in the DC Universe that is about to begin. So we had to introduce a whole new character. It’s not a sequel. It’s Black Adam! Two years ago, the world had no idea who he was. We did. The movie also serves to introduce the JSA, to introduce this new era of the DC Universe. But also, what I really mean by “a new era in the DC Universe” is that we have to listen to the fans. And do our best to give the fans what they want.Granted, star Dwayne Johnson is being a bit vague, his quote is pretty confident about the future of the DCEU. He seems certain that his new character will cross paths with the most powerful warrior in the DC Universe. However, it remains to be seen in which direction Warner will go. The studio had, indeed, potentially the intention to make a total recasting of the DCEU. This would harm the plans of Dwayne Johnson.
