A new trailer for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is long overdue. The release date for the movie is drawing near. And so, today, we get a brand-new trailer from Paramount, giving us a deeper dive into the plot and characters. Edgin (Chris Pine) is the film’s protagonist; he teams up with an unlikable crew to recover a priceless artifact, but the improbable gang must quickly learn to work together when things inevitably go wrong.
The initial Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves teaser was released in July, so it’s been a while since we last saw it. Despite the title’s success at SDCC and the CCXP panel’s unveiling of crucial plot points, we have been severely lacking in fresh video until today.
Games of Dungeons and Dragons: Packed With Monsters
The teaser also emphasizes how Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves appears to be paying tribute to geek culture and D&D heritage by including dragons of different breeds, a detail typically overlooked in media depictions of the mythical creatures. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the film’s co-directors, spoke to Collider about the film’s distinct visual style and said that one of their hopes for the franchise’s future was to establish a fresh visual identity.
D&D’s Lasting Impact
The legendary Dungeons & Dragons tabletop RPG inspires the action-packed adventure Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. The game’s designers, Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson were also responsible for the Dungeons & Dragons animated series, which aired 27 episodes over three seasons. Despite its brevity, the series managed to amass a global fan base. In addition to its enduring popularity, the show is remembered for being canceled before a finale could be filmed, inspiring several fan theories.
Joining Pine in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is an all-star cast that includes Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Hugh Grant, Justice Smith, and Sophia Lillis. The two helmers and author Michael Gillio wrote the script (Kwik Stop).
On March 31, theaters will debut Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. In 2023, the film will have its world premiere at the South by Southwest festival.
