Captain America 4 keeps piling up important announcements. The latest one: one of the replacements of the late William Hurt to play General Ross. And his interpreter is not just anyone since it is Harrison Ford.
Chris Evans, the emblematic hero of Captain America, abandons the Captain America costume that he wore for eight years with brilliance and charisma. As a symbol, his character gives his fetish shield to his faithful partner, Sam Wilson aka Falcon in Avengers: Endgame. However, it took time for the superhero to accept his new role and responsibilities.
Something that the series Falcon and the Winter Soldier showed rather well during six episodes. Ultimately, Sam Wilson took on the symbolic costume, becoming the new Captain America.
Marvel Studios have announced a new Captain America feature film. Entitled Captain America: New World Order, it will be the first film of the saga that Chris Evans will not carry. So we will have to see what Anthony Mackie is worth in this new role of America’s superhero. The actor will not be alone, however, since he should be accompanied by the actor Danny Ramirez (seen in Falcon and the Winter Soldier), who will play Joaquin Torres, a character well-known to readers of Marvel Comics. Indeed, it is the new Falcon.
In this Captain America 4, we will find two other surprise characters: Sabra (played by Shira Haas), known to be a mutant, which increasingly suggests that the X-Men are on their way to join the MCU. On the other hand, Captain America: New World Order will see the return of Samuel Sterns, who hasn’t been seen since The Incredible Hulk in 2008. And, given his last appearance in this film, the character played by Tim Blake Nelson should return as the super-villain The Leader.
There is a question mark in this new installment of Captain America on the presence or not of General Thaddeus Ross. Indeed, his regular interpreter in the MCU since 2008 was the late William Hurt, who left us last March at 71. To this, Marvel has answered yes by finding a prestigious replacement for him: Harrison Ford.
Symbol of the great Hollywood entertainment with cult sagas such as Star Wars, Blade Runner or Indiana Jones, the 80-year-old Hollywood star will take over the role of this uncompromising military leader that we saw in The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Black Widow.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harrison Ford will also take on this role for the Thunderbolts movie scheduled for 2024. Will he join this fearsome team of former supervillains? In the comics, the character is part of it… Under the features of a Hulk! Indeed, Betty Ross’ father is known to hate Bruce Banner at the highest point. Following an experiment, he undergoes a dose of gamma rays and cosmic waves, transforming him into a red-skinned titan. He is then called Red Hulk and has the same super-powerful abilities as his green compatriot.
Will Harrison Ford turn into a giant during the next phases of the MCU? We may find out on May 1, 2024, when Captain America: New World Order is released.
