The city of Zhengzhou in China is under containment

The Chinese government has ordered residents in eight districts of Zhengzhou, commonly known as “Apple City” in the central province of Henan, not to leave the area for the next five days.

Several checkpoints have been set up around high-risk residential buildings, and movement control points have been established on the streets.

The decision is strange, as a few cases of COVID-19 have been reported in this city of 12.6 million people.

The lockdown comes after violent protests by hundreds of employees this week at the Foxconn factory on the outskirts of the city, which employs more than 200,000 people, makes Apple products, and is the world’s largest Apple phone manufacturing plant.

Brave Chinese people shared the picture on social media on Friday, and its geolocation was verified by news agencies worldwide. It shows a crowd marching down a street east of the city, some carrying placards.
