“Harry Potter” back at Hogwarts on the 20th anniversary of the first film

The first installment of the Harry Potter series saw the light of day 20 years ago have passed since the magical trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint gave an image to create the magic of cinema in “Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone, ”the first film in the hit“ Harry Potter ”franchise – and now the trio is reuniting to celebrate this milestone.

Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Watson (Hermione Granger) and Grint (Ron Weasley) will join director Chris Columbus and other actors from the eight “Harry Potter” films in the HBO special “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” which will premiere on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2022.
 
The HBO Max channel released a trailer for the special on Tuesday. The one-minute clip includes footage from the films in the franchise. In an accompanying press release, the streaming service said the special features “all-new in-depth interviews and conversations with the cast” with Radcliffe, Watson and Grint, as well as co-stars Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Gary Oldman and others.

The nostalgia is quite present through the photo Emma Watson shared a retrospective photo on Instagram that shows her posing next to Radcliffe and Glint when they were kids. In a lengthy caption, she opened up about what the “Harry Potter” films meant to her.

“Harry Potter was my home, my family, my world and Hermione (is still) my favourite fictional character of all time. I think a reporter once said it was irritating how many times during an interview I would mention how lucky I was and start counting… BUT I KNEW BETTER!!! And I still know,” she exclaimed.

Emma Watson also thanked the film’s fans, who “continued to show their support long after the last chapter closed.”
 
“The magic of the world wouldn’t exist without you. Thank you for fighting to make it such an inclusive and loving place,” she wrote.

“Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” will premiere on HBO Max on Jan. 1, 2022.
