Cobra Kai must serve as an example

When Cobra Kai started in 2018 it was thought that it would completely fail but right now it has exceeded all of our expectations and has become one of the most-watched shows in Netflix and Television history. After The Karate Kid starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith it was anticipated that any karate kid remakes would fail since the Karate Kid (2010) wasn’t a complete failure it couldn’t live up to the standards of the original Karate Kid series. This is what made all the critics doubt the new Cobra Kai show in 2018 which at the time seemed reasonable.

Although most people thought that it was set up to fail Cobra Kai’s directors saw something that most critics didn’t and their style and ideas of how the show should be executed and written were definitely unique. The mixing of different genres is carried out perfectly, no matter what type of show you like some form of it is included in Cobra Kai. Whether you like drama, comedy or action shows Cobra Kai brought all these different styles and managed to blend them into the perfect show.

Nowadays nobody will sit down and watch a show and go through the hardest and most unimportant parts of the show unless it is iconic or trending. For example most people are willing to go through first bad episodes or even seasons of shows like The Office, Breaking Bad or even Friends just because they are so iconic but shows like Cobra Kai didn’t have that amount of popularity but somehow managed to succeed. The main reason why Cobra Kai succeeded was because from the first episode they knew exactly who they were and what they should do and didn’t rely too heavily on the past and tried to make the younger cast the main part of the show.

In the first few episodes it seemed like a comedic comeback story for Johnny but it also started to focus more on the younger cast which in turn appealed more to the younger audience because of the increase in action scenes and drama compared to the rest of the cast which was brought in to bring in that nostalgia for the older audience.

The mixing of all these different genres really blended well together and not only brought in a new audience to The Karate Kid franchise but it also brought joy to the original fans of The Karate Kid who weren’t totally sold on the idea of a remake but we can all agree now that the show and the producers have done a perfect job blending everything together and making the show as Johnny Would Say “Badass”.
